Alwal, September 8: The Government of Andhra Pradesh has made a significant appointment to the Trust Board of the prestigious Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada.
Smt. Sushmitha Konidela, noted designer and daughter of legendary actor and Megastar Chiranjeevi, has been officially nominated as a Special Invitee to the temple’s governing board. The Department of Endowments issued an official order to this effect, signed by K. Kanna Babu, Secretary to Government (FAC).
According to the official order, the appointment is in continuation of earlier directions issued by the State Government. As a Special Invitee, Sushmitha Konidela is expected to offer valuable advice and suggestions to the temple’s Executive Officer and the Trust Board whenever required.
Her role will also involve extending support to the temple administration during major festivals, fairs and mega religious events, including the Dasara Sharad Navaratri and Bhavani Deeksha Viramana. Her involvement is expected to contribute towards better planning, coordination and facilities for the large number of devotees visiting the temple during such occasions.
As a Special Invitee, however, she will not have direct voting rights in key administrative decisions of the Trust Board. Nevertheless, her participation in festival management and the execution of major events is expected to be significant.
Copies of the Government Order have reportedly been forwarded to the Commissioner of Endowments, the Executive Officer of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam and the Chief Minister’s Office.
The high-profile appointment of Sushmitha Konidela has generated considerable interest across political, social and film circles.
