Assam
The Assam Police Department is the law enforcement agency for the state of Assam in India. It functions under the Department of Home Affairs, Assam and is headed by the Director General of Police, Assam.
The Assam Police was established by the British after the Treaty of Yandaboo in 1826 to maintain law and order in the region. The Assam Police has various branches and offices, such as the Assam Police Radio Organisation, the Assam Police Border Organisation, the Assam Police Commando Battalions, the Directorate of Civil Defence and Home Guards, and the Prison Department.
The Assam Police also provides various services and information to the citizens, such as e-Complaint, e-FIR, Public Grievance Redressal, Passport Verification, Crime Data, and more
The Assam Police Department is responsible for maintaining law and order in the state of Assam, India. It has a workforce of more than 60,000 personnel, including officers and support staff. The department is divided into several branches, including the Crime Branch, Special Branch, Traffic Branch, and Women’s Cell. The Assam Police Department also has a Cyber Crime Investigation Cell to deal with digital crimes. The department has been actively involved in various initiatives to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of Assam.
