The UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has issued a critical one-month warning to businesses to formalize their data protection complaints procedures.

Effective June 19, 2026, the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 legally mandates all organizations—particularly small and medium-sized enterprises—to acknowledge customer data complaints within 30 days.

The ICO highlighted that established protocols are essential for upholding consumer trust, warning that failure to comply will lead to severe regulatory penalties.
