West Bengal is experiencing a stark geographical split in weather today. While South Bengal and the capital city of Kolkata endure an intensely humid, overcast day with a minimum temperature of 28.7°C, North Bengal is preparing for a heavy monsoon-like downpour.
The Alipore Meteorological Department issued an alert predicting heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching up to 50 km/h across Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar, expected to last from May 21 through May 25.
