High Stakes: Civic Polls & Public Holiday

The Punjab government has officially declared a public holiday tomorrow, May 26, to facilitate voting for the state’s crucial local body elections.

Polling will take place across 104 municipal bodies, including eight major municipal corporations such as Mohali, Bathinda, and Moga, alongside 75 municipal councils and 21 nagar panchayats.

The holiday applies to all state government offices, boards, and educational institutions, including those located in Chandigarh. Ballots will be used for voting, and results are scheduled to be counted on May 29.
