With the Southwest Monsoon intensifying across the state, authorities in Kerala have issued a critical flood probability warning for two major rivers, the Periyar and the Pamba. High inflow from heavy, continuous rainfall in their catchment areas, particularly in Idukki and Pathanamthitta, has brought water levels close to danger marks.

Residents along the river banks in Idukki, Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha, including the vulnerable Kuttanad region, are urged to maintain high vigilance and be prepared for potential evacuation. Coastal areas are also alert. The Central Water Commission (CWC) is monitoring.
