Varanasi has become India’s first city to implement a hub-and-spoke regional aviation network, marking a major milestone in the country’s civil aviation sector. The initiative was inaugurated by the Union Civil Aviation Minister to improve regional air connectivity by linking smaller cities with Varanasi as the central hub. This model aims to make air travel more accessible and efficient across eastern Uttar Pradesh and neighboring regions
The new aviation network is expected to boost tourism, facilitate business travel, and promote faster movement of passengers across the region. It also supports the Government of India’s vision of expanding regional connectivity under the UDAN scheme, encouraging economic growth, attracting investment, and creating new employment opportunities through improved transportation infrastructure.
