A fresh debate has emerged in Karnataka’s education sector following a recent NCERT note that proposes designating Kannada as a third language. Private school managements have voiced strong opposition, arguing that this directive undermines the state’s established educational framework.
By invoking the Kannada Language Learning Act of 2015, these institutions assert that Kannada must be prioritized as either a first or second language. This conflict highlights a growing tension between central curriculum recommendations and state-mandated language policies, leaving educators and parents awaiting a clear resolution on the future of language instruction in the region.
