The Karnataka Police has made it mandatory to register an FIR in cases involving the non-consensual sharing of intimate images or videos. According to the state leadership, this order is designed to protect the right to privacy. Police are now mandated to register a ‘Zero-FIR’ in such instances, ensuring immediate action is taken against perpetrators under the IT Act, thereby providing swift justice and legal protection to victims across the state.
