Maharashtra continues to strengthen its sports ecosystem through investments in modern infrastructure, athlete development, and grassroots participation programs. The state is upgrading stadiums, sports academies, and high-performance training centres while promoting disciplines such as cricket, football, athletics, kabaddi, wrestling, and indigenous sports. School, district, and state-level competitions are helping identify emerging talent, with increased support for women athletes and para-sports.
Government initiatives, sports associations, and local organizations are working together to improve coaching standards, encourage youth participation, and enhance Maharashtra’s presence in national and international sporting events throughout 2026.
