The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather alert for South Bengal as a low-pressure system takes shape over the northwest Bay of Bengal. This meteorological development is expected to trigger widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall across the region, beginning today, July 3.
Authorities have cautioned residents about potential waterlogging in low-lying areas and advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the rough sea. As the monsoon surge strengthens, state disaster management teams are on high alert to mitigate risks and ensure public safety during this period of intense precipitation.
