The Karnataka government today officially revoked the 2022 order that banned the hijab in educational institutions. Under a new, flexible dress code policy effective immediately, students from Classes 1 to 12 can now wear limited traditional and faith-based symbols alongside their prescribed uniforms.
This includes the hijab, turban, janivara (sacred thread), and rudraksha. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized that the move aims to foster an inclusive environment, ensuring no student is denied education or faces discrimination based on their religious identity or traditional practices.
