Punjab continues to prioritize sustainable water resource management through initiatives focused on groundwater conservation, efficient irrigation, and canal network modernization. The state has promoted water-saving agricultural practices, including Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) and micro-irrigation, to reduce pressure on declining groundwater reserves.
Efforts are also underway to improve canal infrastructure, encourage rainwater harvesting, and raise public awareness about responsible water use. These measures aim to support agricultural productivity, ensure long-term water security, protect natural ecosystems, and strengthen climate resilience while meeting the needs of both rural and urban communities.
