The Ministry of Defence has officially initiated steps to co-join France’s Future Combat Air System (FCAS) program, seeking to secure cutting-edge sixth-generation fighter jets for the Indian Air Force. In a report presented to Parliament, a parliamentary standing panel highlighted the necessity of adopting next-generation air combat capabilities to keep pace with evolving modern warfare. The committee has requested a comprehensive acquisition roadmap and timeline from the Ministry of Defence, while emphasizing parallel efforts to boost indigenous platforms like the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) and maintain technological superiority across regional airspace.
