Over 150 Nihang Sikhs are currently camping at the historic Paonta Sahib gurdwara in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, creating a tense standoff. The group is demanding the immediate release of four fellow sect members who were arrested in neighboring Uttarakhand following a recent violent clash.
While initially planning a major protest march to press their demands, the Nihangs have agreed to suspend the procession for two days. This temporary truce follows extensive discussions with local administration officials and police, who are working to defuse the situation and maintain regional peace.
