● Calls for a people-friendly approach and strict adherence to traffic rules

Alwal, August 15: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated at Alwal Police Station with patriotic fervour. On the occasion, SHO Prashanth hoisted the National Flag at his office and paid his respects. He later addressed the police personnel.

Extending Independence Day greetings to the police personnel, their families and the public, Prashanth recalled the sacrifices of the great freedom fighters who fought for the country’s independence. He said the police have a crucial responsibility in protecting society and serving the people.

“We are the protectors of everyone, and discipline must also begin with us,” Prashanth said. He urged every member of the force to discharge their duties responsibly and conduct themselves in a manner that inspires others.

He said the police uniform should not become a reason for people to feel intimidated. Instead, personnel should approach the public with warmth, respect and compassion, and work towards earning their trust through courteous conduct and dedicated service.

Prashanth also stressed that police personnel must be the first to follow traffic regulations. He urged all personnel to set an example by wearing helmets while riding their vehicles and assured that necessary support would be provided to those who need them. Those who advise the public to follow rules should lead by example by adhering to them in their own conduct, he added.

He called upon the personnel to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of freedom fighters and perform their duties with commitment to the nation and the public. Sector SIs and police personnel participated in the programme.
