The upcoming Namma Metro Phase 3 project has run into a major environmental roadblock. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is seeking regulatory and public approval to clear 3,627 trees along a 12.5-kilometer elevated corridor.
This specific stretch forms part of the highly anticipated Orange Line, which is designed to connect Hosahalli to Kadabagere. The massive environmental footprint of the proposal has sparked intense debates and active dialogue between passionate citizen activist groups, local environmentalists, and urban planning authorities determined to protect the city’s shrinking green cover.
