Alwal, September 30: Alwal police have cracked the murder case of 52-year-old Boddu Srinivas, who was killed at his residence in Peddi Pharma Reddy Colony, Gopalnagar, Macha Bollaram, under the Malkajgiri Commissionerate. The incident occurred on the night of September 27 under the Alwal Police Station limits. His wife, Boddu Ramadevi, and son, Boddu Nikhil,were arrested in connection with the case. Malkajgiri Division ACP Gopala Krishnamurthy disclosed the case details during a media briefing on Wednesday.
According to ACP Gopala Krishnamurthy, Srinivas was running a bolts and nuts business in Balanagar. Alongside his business, he had invested heavily in the share market and online trading, incurring substantial losses. His debts continued to mount, placing the family under severe financial pressure and leading to frequent disputes between Srinivas and Ramadevi.
Earlier, Ramadevi had lodged a complaint against her husband at a police station under the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits over a family dispute. Police counselled the couple, and the matter was settled in the presence of family elders. The family subsequently moved to Macha Bollaram in January 2026.
On Sunday night, September 27, another dispute broke out between the couple over financial issues. The argument escalated, following which Ramadevi and Nikhil allegedly attacked Srinivas with an axe kept inside the house. He sustained severe injuries and died at the spot.
Following the incident, Alwal police registered a case and launched an investigation. During the probe, police established the alleged involvement of Ramadevi and Nikhil and arrested both of them. The axe allegedly used in the attack was also recovered.
The investigation also established that Srinivas’s daughter had no involvement in the killing. She was sleeping in another room when the incident occurred.
Ramadevi and Nikhil were produced before a court on Wednesday, September 30, and were remanded to judicial custody.
Alwal SHO Prashanth and Sector SI Devender played a key role in the investigation.
ACP Gopala Krishnamurthy said the incident highlighted the wider financial and social impact of online applications and betting activities on people and families.He urged people to approach the police at an early stage when family disputes arise, noting that timely intervention could help prevent such disputes from escalating into serious crimes.
